Many of us love to travel and have been bitten by the wanderlust bug! Some of us choose to leave the place where we live in search of greener pastures. We often leave our careers if we are not being fulfilled. Our relationships often mirror the same actions. When things get rough we tend to bow out, sometimes this is for the best of course. However, no matter where you go, who you meet, or what career path you choose, you take yourself with you when you go.

We often think that if we make a big change on the outside, that our insides will feel better, happier, more fulfilled. This may work for a while. With all of the distractions that come with a big change, we often do not have the time to for introspection. Then time passes, and maybe you feel better for six months or even a year, and then those same old patterns and thoughts appear. Suddenly what felt so amazing and wonderful, now feels kind of like it did before. And the next thing that you know, you are dreaming about the next shift that is going to bring you the happiness that you are craving.

Don’t get me wrong, change is good and necessary, and also quite unavoidable. And if you are in a situation that is not bringing you peace of mind, then perhaps a change is necessary. My advice is to simply become the witness to yourself. Become the observer and notice your thoughts and behaviors. Are you running away from something? Are you distracting your self from who you really are at the core?

External transitions will never heal what is inside. They will only distract you from the truth. No matter where you go or who you meet, you will still be you. This is why it is so important to honor the most powerful relationship you will ever have in your life. You my friends, are your soul mate, your best friend, and your dearest love. Learn about yourself, notice how the people and situations in your life are a mirror reflecting who you truly are. When you make the decisions that are life changing, make sure that you drop into the heart center first rather than your head. Tune into your intuitive nature, we all have that skill if we choose to cultivate that aspect of ourselves.

Enjoy your life! Take chances! Challenge yourself! Let go when you need to let go! Just remember that no matter where you go or what you do…you take yourself with you!
