The top 10 reasons your dog is your guru are listed below but I wanted to educate you a bit on what a true guru is. In this day and age the word guru is tossed around quite a bit. The source of the word dates back to a Sanskrit word meaning the dispeller of darkness, or true spiritual teacher. I personally have yet to find a human guru that walks the earth, but I am pretty sure that my dog is one and I bet yours is too!

1) Dogs are always living in the moment. That is why when you leave the house for five minutes they are as equally excited to see you as they are when you have been gone all day.

2) Dogs love you unconditionally. You can have garlic breath and a bad hair day all at once and they will love you just as much as when you are fresh and beautiful.

3) Dogs understand the art of balance. They sleep when they need to sleep, they eat when they need to eat, and they play when they want to play. Nothing in excess…except slobbering.

4) Dogs never need an alarm, they intuitively know exactly what time it is for breakfast, dinner, potty time, and when their owner will be coming home.

5) Dogs know how to feel good vibes. Nine times out of ten if your dog unexpectedy growls at someone and it is out of character, that person may have a yucky vibe and needs more Yoga.

6) Dogs live with their hearts wide open. Unless a dog has endured trauma, he or she will wear it’s heart on it’s proverbial sleeve without fear or judgement.

7) Dogs always know when you need some extra tender loving care and will strategically place themselves near you to offer comfort.

8) Dogs know how to relax. The next time you cannot fall asleep listen the sighs and deep breaths of your furry guru as he or she sleeps. Before you know it you will be asleep to their lullaby.

9) Dogs are always there for you even when you make a mistake, unless you forget to fill the food bowl, then all bets are off!

10) Dogs know exactly  how to handle things when a challenging situation comes along. There are really only three options, pee on it, poo on it, or simply walk away.
