Ok, what would you like first, the good news or the bad news about the book?

Let’s start with the good: Stress Less: Mindfulness for Teens is #1 in the Teen and Young Adult Social Science category on Amazon! Thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting the book!

Now for the not so good news: This book is not allowed in some schools because it’s about mental health. The reason is that there are some words in it that schools do not want, such as “social emotional learning,” “diversity and inclusion,” and “suicide.” Mental Health books should be allowed in schools, especially when emotions and stress are so high, and when statistics of self-harm and harm to others is higher for teens than any other age group.

I am joining with authors who are working together against these book bans which limit what educators can teach and students can learn in public schools. Banning books that teach history or psychology has to stop.

It’s upsetting that books are being banned from schools, especially books about #mentalhealth. If you can advocate for anything more, please take a minute to call your school, join Pen America, and/or purchase a book or two to give to someone.
