Dharma was always quite an illusive word for me. I knew that it related to your path in life some way. It sounds a lot like Karma, but I never really understood the concept until recently. Dharma is defined as finding your purpose in life. What is your Dharma? What is it that you were put on this earth to accomplish? This concept is not to be confused with your current career necessarily. Some people are fortunate to have found their purpose in life through their work and that is so amazing. However, many people work jobs that may not necessarily fill their soul with purpose. Your Dharma may arise in a relationship, a hobby, or a challenging situation. We often confuse our passion for our purpose in life, but that is not always the case. In fact we are often pulled in a direction to serve that we may feel resistant to. Yet something always keeps pulling us back to it. Have you ever met someone that had a steady flow of energy in a certain aspect of their life no matter what? While in the meantime you feel as though you are a salmon swimming up stream! Celebrate that persons success and take the time to consider that you keep finding resistance for a reason. Life is not perfect but it was meant to be lived with ease. Be patient with yourself. Finding your true calling in life takes time, wisdom, and knowledge. Your Dharma may be to save the planet, to be a loving parent, to feed the homeless, or to create beautiful music that inspires creativity in others. Regardless of what you feel is your purpose in life, make sure and live up to that. Do the best that you can in every endeavor you attempt and enjoy the journey!
