JG Larochette is the founder and executive director of the Mindful Life Project, an organization that teaches mindfulness to students who have been exposed to high levels of adverse experiences. In creating Mindful Life Project he had the vision to provide programs in the lowest income and underserved schools so that all students feel valued, empowered and given equitable educational opportunities. Mindful Life Project serves 10,000 students in 9 cities across the Bay Area and leads trainings and supports for schools across the nation.

Diamond Howard & LaQueda Lewis

Session Title: Affects of Substance Abuse.

Diamond Howard, Regional Prevention Coordinator, plays a key role in educating youth to make healthy choices. Diamond has a talent for creating long-lasting relationships with schools, partners and community agencies. She brings her passion for prevention to each presentation she delivers. Diamond is active with UWBCCSA, participating in their Youth Action Task Force and Community Response Team.

LaQueda Lewis, a former juvenile probation officer and police officer, is not afraid of challenges, which makes her a good fit for her current job as a Prevention Coordinator with the Hanley Foundation. As Prevention Coordinator, she provides quality prevention services and support services to schools, community partners and the community at large. Her energy, communication skills and passion have been essential tools in her work with adolescents, in a variety of roles and settings. LaQueda enjoy’ s the ability to interact with and impact adolescents through psychoeducation. She believes that her role is important because she helps to bridge the gap between the adolescent population and the adult population.

Marnie Grundman

Session Title: Signs of Trafficking and Resources for Help.

Marnie Grundman has been featured on over 100 major television and radio shows in Canada, the United States and Europe. At the age of 13, she spent years living on the streets where she experienced the life a homeless youth. Marnie has since become an advocate for the missing, working to change the perception of runaway children so they might finally get the help they desperately need. Marnie speaks on a variety of topics including human trafficking (as a certified Shared Hope ambassador and survivor) and healing from trauma.

Session Title: Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.

Dr. Steven Ronik is currently the Chief Executive Officer for Henderson Behavioral Health, which is a nationally recognized behavioral health system that helps with mental health, substance abuse, suicide prevention, and more. They have crisis teams, housing services, psychosocial rehabilitation, and more. Dr. Ronik has served as the Chairperson of the Florida Council for Community Mental Health, and is a board member for the National Council for Behavioral Health and Mental Health Corporations of America.

Emanuelle Sippy

Emanuelle Sippy, a junior at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky, is the co-director of the Prichard Committee Student Voice Team. Emanuelle leads the team’s strategic planning, programming, professional development, and grant writing. She designs and facilitates workshops with students and educators across the state on meaningful student voice, the role of students in school governance, inequities in the postsecondary transition process, and school safety and climate. Emanuelle has also served as an associate book editor on Ready or Not, Stories from Students Behind the Statistics, authored op-eds on a range of education issues and has led and taught other students to lead school climate audits. She is also an Unlearn Fear + Hate organizer and a jGirls Magazine Editor.
