We are grateful to you, and look forward to next year’s #MindfulKidsPeaceSummit! 🙂
******
The Mindful Kids Peace Summit or tweens and teens, is an online initiative for middle and high schools, providing curriculum to help engage students aged 11 to 17 in social emotional learning, positive psychology, enhanced physical and mental health and well-being, and mindfulness. Students learn tools to help them cope with stress, deal with emotions, and grow into happier peace loving adults.
We address subjects like diversity, inclusion, communication, kindness, anti-bullying, mindfulness as a tool to deal with stress, learning to interact with others, self-awareness, self-regulation, self-compassion, resilience, positive psychology, collaboration, empathy, and more. Helen Muffin, my co-host, and I, interview many of the pioneers in the mindfulness and psychology fields. More than 70 subject matter experts talk, demo, or give a presentation, and in between segments, celebrities speak about their health and wellness, and why mindfulness and kindness are so important.
I created the summit for middle and high school because I believe this information needs to be taught in schools, and it should be delivered in an interesting way, through videos and interviews, so that it’s not boring, so that teachers and students can choose which topics they want to watch and learn about. Every year, I’m going to add more content, such as this year, I added Spanish content, and next year, I’m working on getting more teenage advocates to speak instead of adults. I believe kids prefer to hear from other kids, and it’s also a good way to teach other kids that they can use their voice for good.
Schools that register for the summit have access to it throughout the school year so they can watch the 45 hours of content at their leisure. There are videos, lesson plans, suggested activities, projects, and discussion points for parents and teachers to download if they want as well, so teachers, if they choose, can continue an open dialogue with the kids each day.
The Summit is Free during Peace Week, Sept 23-27th. Purchase the Summit for $99 per school if purchased prior to Sept 23rd. Thereafter, the Summit will be $149. I hope you’ll join us! For more information on speakers and topics, visit the MKPS site: www.mindfulkidspeacesummit.com
